SHIPWRECKS - THUNDER BAY AREA

Depart by shuttle from the Alpena Marina  or the Rogers City Marina to our launch location for a guided tour in a tandem glass bottom air kayak.  Paddle over the shipwreck in the shallow bay waters and you can leave your expensive camera or iphones behind!  We will take the photos and email them to you for a small add-on charge.

Our 4 Shipwreck Water Adventures for 2011 are The Portland, The Unknown Pirate Shipwreck, The Fay and The American Union.   Our guides will tell you the story as you paddle to the wreck and see the shipwreck in the clear water.  Enjoy learning about the history, the ships and the incident that caused the ship to wreck.  You can also reserve a Shipwreck Water Adventure that includes snorkeling as well as a paddle over the wreck.  What a great way to enjoy your first shipwreck!

All tour shuttles depart from the Alpena or Rogers City Marinas with parking available at no cost.  All tours are scheduled weather permitting, and if wind or extreme weather conditions are too severe, tours may be cancelled and rainchecks provided for a tour at a later time or day when tours are restarted.

Tour customers are encouraged to wear shorts or below the knee length pants.  River shoes, crocs, water sandals or bare feet are recommended for the tour. It is important to understand that the wearther conditions may make the viewing a bit more challenging since waves and wind can cause your kayak to drift and you will need to position your craft to stay over the wreck for the best viewing. If conditions are to extreme for a pleasant experience, we will not operate the tour and will allow you to book at another time that works for you.

We are not responsible for lost or damaged electronics, clothing or gear during the tour.  Pictures and videotaping are fine, and we recommend keeping your expensive electronics at home. Instead, take advantage of our add-on picture package for $20.  We will take the pictures and send you the pictures from your adventure by email.  Awesome!  You will have 20-25 great pics of your adventure and you won't have to worry about losing or ruining your camera or smart phone! Well worth the cost, and we have high definition cameras and underwater shots.  Duh, no brainer!

Small towels will be provided to swab up the drops of water that will sneak in even when these precautions are taken.  We want you to enjoy your tour, so we recommend that you attach your electronic devices to yourself by a strap if you must bring them along.

We are confident that your tour will be something to remember, and we do our best to make sure that it is a good memory!
