ECO-TOURS

One of our objectives is to maintain a number of high quality eco-tours for you to enjoy. We have some great opportunities in Michigan, one of which is the chance to see one of the most rare birds in the world, the Kirkland Warbler. Another eco-tour adventure will allow the traveller to tour one the most unique and world recognized natural waste water treatment facilities. The Muskegon County waste water treatment facility on thousands of acres actually uses the land and natural processes to purify the water and send it back to the watershed. The process is truly a marvel and the location is also the home to a private astronomy club that welcomes visitors.
After the land tour, you will be able to take a cruise on a University research vessel on Lake Michigan to test the water and sediment. The crew also delivers a nice presentation on invasive species that are present in our Great Lakes and what we are trying to do about them. Invasive species like the Zebra Mussel and the Asian Carp are threats to our lakes. Many of the invasive species show up in the bilge water of large tankers traveling from the oceans of the world.
The eco-tours are plentiful in Michigan, especially when it comes to our great natural dunes. We have living and moving dunes that have been known to swallow up entire houses over times. Seeing them up close is almost like visiting another planet.
Many of the things to do in Michigan focus on outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and rafting. Michigan has unique geological features including sink holes and living dunes. The formation of the great lakes is interesting and our eco-tours will highlight various aspects so will will take away something while enjoying our natural resources.
