History of our hubs and how they were named -

THUNDER HUB
We opened Alpena in June, 2010 after a chance meeting over an IPA in East Lansing, Michigan.  I met Jeff Gray, Superintendent of the National Marine Sanctuary in Alpena, and he wanted me to visit the area after I explained my adventure tour operator business model.  Shallow water shipwreck adventures were born with our new tandem glass bottomed kayaks.  In 2011 we opened our Shipwreck Adventure Center on Fletcher Street right next to the Sanctuary.  The area is called Thunder Bay, and the ancient Native American legends speak of a great god of thunder and wind.

WAR HUB
We began operations on Mackinac Island on August 1st of 2010 with our signature Arch Rock kayak tour.  We also offer Round Island kayak tours and British Landing tours.  In 2011 we began our shallow water Whitecap Splash and Clear Water Viewing adventures which have been very successful.  The island was a strategic fort for a variety of occupying nations, and a battle was fought there during the war of 1812.  Mission Point Resort's General Manager Doug Leedke has been and continues to be our greatest partner in helping us with adventure operations on the island.

FIRE HUB
Our grand opening Sandboard Adventure occurs today, Sunday, July 10th, 2011.  Ludington is known for it's variety of water sports, beaches, dunes, state parks, national forest proximity and an overall summer vacation getaway.  On some Friday nights in July the downtown area is completely closed for a street festival.  We offer sandboarding, biking and kayak tours and are partnering with local outfitters to use their equipment for our adventures.  The Ludington area has a long history in the lumber industry, and much of the wood that rebuilt Chicago after it's infamous fire came from this area.  The Fire Hub was born.
