NICK MYERS
Nick's love of the water has lead him to explore rivers, lakes and seas in and below the water on three continents. His experiences include many different kinds of vessels: from the traditional river boats of the south of Chile and western North America to canoes and kayaks, to cruising sailboats and commercial vessels. He enjoys it all, but, in his opinion, for maneuverability and the ability to quietly explore the intimate coastal environments, the touring kayak cannot be beat.
His previous experience includes adventure tourism, fly fishing guide and instructor in Colorado, Chile and Montana. In addition to leading kayaking trips with Green Planet Adventures, he is a crew member on the Lady Michigan, a glass-bottom tour boat exploring the submerged cultural resources of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary out of Alpena.
His certifications and courses completed include: Sea Kayaking, Surf Kayaking, ASA Coastal Navigation, ASA Keelboat, USDoI Moterboat Operator Course, PADI Open Water Diver, AAUS Scientific Diver, DAN Diver First Aid, American Heart Association CPR.
Nick has a BA in Letters and a BA in Spanish from the University of Oklahoma (1997) and an MA in International Studies with a concentration in environmental resource management from East Carolina University (2010).
