DAN SCHWIEMAN

Dan holds certification as a 100 ton Captain, American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and is a rescue instructor. He is a certified Lifeguard and is U.S. Coastguard Fire and Rescue certified. Our safety officer and trainer is good to be with on the water as a matter of safety, but especially as a personable and professional guide. He has a tremendous amount of experience and will share some very good stories if clients are interested. He is interested in making each tour a memorable one for the adventure clients.
Dan has a passion for adventure and continues to travel the planet in search of great experiences. His most recent travels in 2012 & 2013 include Italy and Turkey. Captain Danny Schwieman is a tremendous guide and a valued member of the Green Planet team. He is responsible for training all of the Green Planet guides for professional rescue certification. He prides himself on his safety record and places everyone's safety in his hands on every tour. His humor and vast knowledge of the waterways will keep you smiling and wanting more. He is great with paddle adventure customers and kids and has a great passion for water sports!

KEVIN KARPINSKI

Kevin Karpinski has a background in adventure travel, guiding and is professional rescue certified. He worked for 12 years in the travel and tourism industry and at the age of 19 traveled Europe in an educational gap year studying art. In addition to being an accomplished artist, he has an athletic background having played minor league baseball, national level flag football and is currently in training and conditioning to play Rugby for a team in Michigan.
Kevin learned how to race mountain bikes in downhill races when he was 44 years old and he ran a cross country and downhill mountain bike race team for two years. He is an avid and experienced mountain biker and serves as a bike guide on Michigan's great trails. Kevin competed in the Michigan Mountain Biking Association (MMBA) Championship Race Series. He also served as MMBA's Mountain Kids Director, an outreach program that provides mountain bikes and instructional sessions to underprivileged youth.
He has rafted on the Flathead River in Glacier National Park with his daughter Shannon, who is also a professional guide since the age of 18. He has kayaked numerous inland waterways and the Great Lakes, including Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior. He is a professional kayak guide and specializes in geology and shipwreck tours along Michigan's Northeast coast. In 2010 he served as Adventure Coordinator for the Shorts Brewing Company epic kayak paddle adventure "Shorts to Shorts", a 27 mile endurance paddle over 10 bodies of water from Bellaire to Elk Rapids, Michigan.

DENNY PAUL

Denny is an avid competitor and has a love for everything outdoors. He kayaks every couple of days for training and enjoyment and he is our primary guide for Duncan Bay, Cheboygan Shipwreck Water Adventures. His knowledge of the area waterways and race experience on the water make him a valuable guide and great to be with!
Some of his accomplishments are:
Cross Country Skiing, Michigan Cup Series Overall Champion 2007. Top 3 in 09, 09, 10. Michigan Cup Overall Classic Ski Champion 2010. Age group winner American Birkiebeiner Classic 2009, 2010
Kayaking: United States Canoe and Kayak Association National Champion Sea Kayak Class 2010. Chicago Flatwater Classic Kayak race 1st 2009, 2nd 2010. Cincinnati Paddlefest 1st 2010
Grand Marais Triathalon. 1st 2008, 2nd 2009, 1st 2010.

His passion for watersports comes from his upbringing in Northern Michigan. He is a great guide and can also provide snorkel & sea hunt instruction adventures with fins, mask, snorkel and a spear gun. The target? Invasive fish species.

OUR GUIDED TOURS ON MACKINAC ISLAND, MACKINAW CITY and from THUNDER BAY NATIONAL MARINE MUSEUM IN ALPENA.

We are proud to offer very experienced guides at our locations, all of whom are Red Cross Certified in CPR First Aid/Water Safety. Tours depart from the waterfront at Mission Point on Mackinac Island, in front of Bell's Fish Market in Mackinaw City and from the NOAA National Marine Sanctuary Museum in Alpena.
